Assistant Director, South Korea

A tender musical about two obsolete HelperBots discovering connection in a world that has left them behind.

“Why love?”

Set in a near-future Seoul, Maybe Happy Ending follows Oliver and Claire, two human-like HelperBots living in an apartment complex abandoned by their former owners. Designed to assist people but no longer needed, they begin to explore the world on their own terms. As their unlikely companionship deepens, they encounter experiences they were never programmed to understand: friendship, memory, loss, and love.

Blending quiet humor with moments of melancholy, the musical imagines a future where humans have grown increasingly isolated from one another, while two forgotten HelperBots begin rediscovering the emotional connections people may have left behind.

Su Young joined the production as Assistant Director beginning with its original premiere in Seoul in 2016 and continued with subsequent seasons as the musical evolved and expanded.
