Oz (오즈)

11 July - 17 September, 2023
TOM Theatre Hall 2

Assistant Director, South Korea

A musical about loneliness, artificial intelligence, and the unexpected connections that emerge inside a virtual world.
“황금나비를 찾아 친구와 함께 모험을 떠나보세요!”
“Set out on an adventure with a friend and find the Golden Butterfly!”

Set in the year 2045, when many human jobs have been replaced by artificial intelligence, Oz follows Jun, the last human worker in an unmanned VR equipment factory. His only escape from a lonely reality is the virtual reality game Oz. When a new story mode begins, an AI character named Tin, who has been waiting for his absent player, unexpectedly encounters Jun. Together, the two embark on a journey through the game’s world, chasing the promise that reaching the end of the story mode will grant their deepest wishes.

Inspired by The Wizard of Oz, the musical blends gaming, artificial intelligence, and fantasy to explore loneliness, identity, and the unexpected connections that emerge in a rapidly changing technological world.
